Kolkata: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on Wednesday reiterated that his party would continue to support the Congress both in Maharashtra as well as the Centre.
Addressing a press conference in Kolkata, the NCP chief said that he did not want to destabilise the government either in the Centre or Maharashtra.
Speaking about the crisis in Maharashtra that was sparked by the resignation of Ajit Pawar as the deputy chief minister of the state, the Union Agriculture Minister said that his nephew had taken the "right decision".
He said, "Ajit Pawar has taken the right decision and I am happy with his decision."
"We are not accepting proposal of other NCP ministers who have also offered to resign…we have told them we want to run the government," added Pawar.
When asked if he wanted a leadership change in Maharashtra, Pawar said it was up to the Congress to decide whether it wanted to continue with Prithviraj Chavan as the Chief Minister.
