Hyderabad: Jana Sena party chief Pawan Kalyan on Thursday launched a scathing attack at the Bhartiya Janta Party at the Centre along with Telugu Desam Party-led state government for not fulfilling their poll promises and ignoring the problems of the people of Andhra Pradesh.
The Telugu actor-turned-politician took on BJP-TDP alliance in Vishakhapatnam, where he reached to extend support to striking employees of Dredging Corporation of India, who have been agitating against the privatization of the company.
Addressing the gathering, Kalyan said, "I am here to question both BJP and TDP because I feel they have failed in keeping their promises. BJP and TDP can run away from their responsibilities. But I cannot, as I had come here in 2014 and asked for your votes."
Questioning both governments, he added, "If you are not able to solve people’s problems, then you have no right to ask for votes in 2019.”
Kalyan's support for BJP-TDP alliance in 2014 assembly elections played an important role in increasing the vote share. However, for past many months, the equation between the two have changed.
"People used to tell me Chandrababu Naidu will use you, betray you. What do you think I did not know all this? If I had not sensed it much before, why would I enter politics or form my own party? I was also new to politics then. I extended my support to BJP-TDP because they were the best option at that time. I personally met PM Narendra Modi also, and felt he can bring in change. But now I am questioning these people since people in the state are not happy," he said.
This year, he even announced that he will fight 2019 Andhra Pradesh assembly elections from Anantapur district. Kalyan has been criticizing and questioning the union and state governments for denying promised special status to Andhra Pradesh.
