Patna: Taking serious exception to an incident in the RJD office in Patna during which a youth leader pulled a gun on its president, party president Lalu Prasad on Friday disbanded the national and state level youth wing with immediate effect.
"The national and state level youth wings stand disbanded with immediate effect," he announced at a hurriedly convened press conference at the RJD office in Patna saying "rowdy elements will not be tolerated in the party."
He also announced cancellation of the proposed national convention of the Yuva RJD to be held at SK Memorial auditorium on June 9.
Lalu also announced setting up a three-member fact finding committee comprising state president Abdul Bari Siddiqui, chief national general secretary Ram Kripal and Alok Mehta and asked them to submit a report within a week.
Condemning the incident when the youth wing national general secretary Dhananjaya Sharma on Friday pulled a gun on its president Alok Mehta and his supporters over a trivial issue, Lalu said indiscipline would not be tolerated in the party.
"I have identified all such elements who have brought disrepute to the party at the national and state levels and all of them will be shown the doors," the RJD supremo said.
Describing the leaders involved in the fracas as 'rowdy elements', Lalu admitted that the incident had damaged the image of the party at the national level in the election year.
Lalu refused to take any question from the media persons present at the press conference saying that he had said whatever he had to say.
The incident took place after Sharma had protested at the missing photographs of the state Yuva RJD chief Satish Paswan from the banners and posters for the June nine convention of the youth wing.
Senior RJD leader Ram Kripal Yadav, a close aide of Lalu, was witness to the incident and had complained to the party in this regard.
