Marathi actor Sharad Ponkshe, renowned for his performances in films like Hi Anokhi Gaath and Hindi movies such as Hey Ram and Antim: The Final Truth, is set to start a new journey alongside his son, Sneh Ponkshe, who is poised to make his debut in the entertainment industry. The father-son duo’s collaboration marks the inception of their upcoming film, tentatively titled Production No 1, which commenced its production with blessings sought at the Shree Siddhivinayak Temple. Rohini Vijaysingh Patwardhan is helming the role of producer, while Sharad assumes the position of co-producer. Although the specifics of the film’s storyline remain undisclosed, excitement surrounds this new venture.
Discussing the project’s inception in an interview, Sharad Ponkshe expressed anticipation for portraying a distinct character, notably alongside his son. Embracing the role of a child’s companion, Sharad underscored the unique experience this endeavour offers. He emphasised Sneh’s five-year directorial training, lauding his son’s directorial debut with this film and expressing confidence in his capabilities. Sneh Ponkshe echoed his father’s sentiments, expressing eagerness to present the film to audiences and promising forthcoming announcements regarding the plot, title and cast. Collaborating with his father on his maiden cinematic venture is deemed a privilege by Sneh, further fueling their anticipation for the project.
Sharad Ponkshe’s illustrious career spans over three decades, encompassing contributions to Marathi theatre, television and cinema. Notably, his portrayal in the Marathi serial Damini garnered widespread acclaim during its run from 1997 to 2001. Additionally, his portrayal of Nathuram Godse in the play Mi Nathuram Godse Boltoy left a lasting impression. In recent years, he received accolades for his roles in television sitcoms like Bawara Dil on Colors TV and Sajan Re Phir Jhooth Mat Bolo on Sony SAB.
