The Malayalam film Raashta, starring Sarjano Khalid and Anagha Narayanan of Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam fame, released today in theatres. The Aneesh Anwar-directed movie’s trailer had teased a survival drama with several suspenseful desert sequences. The premise of the story was later revealed to be a search party-oriented one. In an attempt to find a woman named Shahana’s mother, who has disappeared for 22 years, she travels to Oman with Faizal. They run into difficulties and become disoriented while navigating the desert. The cops start looking for them in the meantime.
Aneesh Anwar has said the crux of the story is inspired by a real life incident in Oman’s Rub’ al Khali desert. Reviewers praised the daring filming scenes,set against the desert background. The movie is noteworthy for showcasing the technical and cast collaboration of Malayali artists with local Oman residents. A youngster searches for her mother in the Gulf, and the scenario promises a gripping narrative that will captivate viewers. Acclaim has been bestowed onto the movie’s music, teaser, and trailer. With outstanding performances from the cast and the crew’s technical prowess, Raastha, the first Malayalam film ever shot in Oman, is sure to soar.
The script, dialogue, and story for Raastha were written by Shahul Erattupetta and Fayiz Madakkara. Aftar Anwar was in charge of editing, and Vishnu Narayanan was in charge of cinematography. The music was composed by Avin Mohan Sithara. The movie was produced by Linu Sreenivas under the banner of Alu Entertainment.
Aneesh Anwar’s other directing endeavours are Mullamottum Munthiricharum, Kumbasaram, and My Great Grandfather. In 2013, Zachariayude Garbhinikal, starring Lal and Rima Kallingal, was recognised with four Kerala State Film Awards, including Best Story and Special Jury. He has produced more than 200 commercials for several networks, such as Asianet and Mathrubhumi.
Sarjano Khalid has a major role in the Malayalam family entertainer Marivillin Gopurangal and the Tamil horror movie, Demonte Colony 2. His last appearance was alongside Priya Prakash Varrier in the Malayalam film 4 Years, directed by Ranjith Sankar.
