New Delhi: The secret is out – the new Apple iPhone 6s is more powerful than its predecessor iPhone 6 when it comes to RAM, but disappointing in terms of battery.
Apple has time and again been secretive about how much RAM its newer phones are powered with. However, teardowns like the one by repair firm iFixit put to rest the doubts.
The firm put the iPhone 6s under its knife and found that it packs 2 GB of RAM, twice than its predecessor, and is also faster than before with LPDDR4 standard. It is the first time since the iPhone 5 that Apple boosted the RAM.
A faster RAM reflects in the phone’s overall performance. Switching between apps and tabs is now faster than before and web pages won’t have to reload every time you switch tabs.
On the battery front, the iPhone 6s is somewhat disappointing with a mere 1,715mAh battery, down from the 1,810mAh battery in the iPhone 6. This compromise is due to the inclusion of the new 3D Touch display that is larger than before, despite an overall size being similar to the predecessor. But the battery life remains the same as before due to the efficient processor.
The firm has rated the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus 7 out of 10 on the repairability scale.
