New Delhi: Making a biopic is like a responsibility and if the biopic is on the iconic tech leader, Steve Jobs, the responsibility gets a notch higher. Writer Aaron Sorkin and director Danny Boyle’s ‘Steve Jobs’ that stars the 12 Years a Slave actor Michael Fassbender as the Apple chief was premiered at the 42nd Telluride Film Festival and it has drawn positive reviews from none other than Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.
Wozniak, who has been part of the historical journey of forming one of the world’s biggest tech companies, told Deadline Hollywood how impressed he was with the rough cut and felt like he was actually watching Steve Jobs.
There have been other biopics made on Jobs but have failed to impress many, including Wozniak who wasn’t a fan of the one starring Ashton Kutcher and said, “There were a lot of things wrong" in the storyline and that Jobs’ portrayal was too glowing.
The latest biopic with Fassbender, however, stresses on one of the significant themes of Jobs’ abandonment of his daughter, Lisa. Wozniak said, “I give full credit to Danny Boyle and Aaron Sorkin for getting it so right."
Kate Winslet as Jobs’ trusted confidante and associate, Jeff Daniels, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Seth Rogen as Steve Wozniak have also received rave reviews for their performances in the movie.
According to Wozniak, Winslet’s performance might be the attention grabbing one and could lead the actress to awards.
Variety notes that the biopic, premiered as ‘work in progress’ has put Fassbender in the top spot for this year’s best actor Oscars contender. Fassbender portrays the late Apple chief convincingly and owns the screen for the film’s 125-minute running time.
How well it is received by the public will be established when it is released on October 9.
