Instagram is now allowing anybody to comment on your stories. The Meta-owned platform has introduced a new feature that enables users to comment on the Stories. The update simplifies interaction with a creator and other profiles. Previously, users could only send a private message when responding to a story that disappeared in 24 hours.
During the launch of Creator Lab in India, ‘Comment On Stories’ was announced. The feature was confirmed through a post on the official Instagram Threads accounts, saying, “You can now leave comments on friends’ Stories to show them some love.”
Talking about this new feature, your comments can now be seen by other users who view your story. It's similar to commenting on regular Instagram posts, but this time on Stories.
However, the new feature comes with some limitations to prevent media trolling. Firstly, the comments will be visible to only those who follow the user and secondly, only the people that the user follows back can leave comments on their stories.
The platform also allows the person to disable comments on a per-story basis, also the comments will automatically disappear after 24 hours. This feature gives users control over their content and the types of interactions they want to allow to their followers.
Instagram spokesperson Emily Norfolk told The Verge, “You can choose if you want comments on your story or not.” Users can also save the comments by saving the story post as a Highlight.
The social media giant has been introducing new features and updates to improve its usability. Recently, the Meta-owned company rolled out a new feature that allows users to add text to their pictures directly within the post editor, eliminating the need for a third-party editing app. Also, Meta has added new text fonts, effects and animations for Reels and Stories on Instagram.
Not just this, the company also recently increased the carousel limit up to 20 photos and videos in a single post, to create longer carousels.
