Reddit has launched a new site that will be overseen by a team of editors who will cull the most interesting stories from the main site and repackage it on Upvoted.com with one noticeably distinguishable feature: comments are disabled.

For the new site, a dedicated editorial team will be tasked with finding stories on Reddit, verifying details and interviewing posters before repackaging the stories, reported Wired.com.

Content can be read, but not ‘upvoted' or ‘downvoted' as on Reddit. Nor will the site allow comments.

Heading the editorial team is former Myspace editorial director Vickie Chang.

The spinoff site is described as an experiment meant to expand Reddit's growth potential.

Reddit is already used by media and journalists looking for interesting stories.

Upvoted.com launched Tuesday.
