New Delhi: Refrigerator, air-conditioners, door locks, cars, and now the next thing in the list of connected devices is going to your suitcase.
A lot of everyday things are getting smarter and luggage maker Samsonite aims to join the bandwagon in partnership with Samsung.
The two companies have teamed up to develop smart luggage that will connect to your smartphone and allow you to track it.
An Android and Me report notes that the smart luggage will have a GPS chip on it that will keep your mind from worrying about luggage loss.
Other features planned for the future of smart luggage include a self check-in luggage and a robot luggage that might follow you around at six inches behind without you having to pull it along. Bye, bye porters.
The GPS-enabled smart luggage prototype is still a near possibility and will include motors to ride it around. However, it consumes up a third of the luggage space and weighs 20kgs alone, which means we still have a lot of scope for improvement there. Sooner or later, smart luggage is certainly the next big-thing.
