Tired Of WhatsApp? Here's How To Delete Your Account On iOS And Android
Deleting your account on WhatsApp is an irreversible process. It cannot be reverted even if you perform it by accident.

In today’s digital world, where social media has become an integral part of our lives, there are moments when people look forward to simply hit the reset button. There can be multiple reasons behind this decision like taking a break from the constant notifications or to concentrate on your studies. Also, sometimes people get bored of one messaging app and look forward to switching to another one.

One such popular messaging app is WhatsApp, which is widely used by people around the world. It helps us stay connected with our family and friends. Sending images, videos, audio, or documents is easy on WhatsApp.

If you have had enough of WhatsApp and are looking forward to delete it from your smartphone, make sure you deactivate your account before removing it from your devices. If you fail to do so, your account will remain active, and your contacts will be able to message you, but you will not receive any of their texts.

You can delete your WhatsApp account by following a few simple steps. However, you must note that deleting your account on WhatsApp is an “irreversible process”.

“You can delete your account from within WhatsApp. Deleting your account is an irreversible process, which we can’t revert even if you perform it by accident,” WhatsApp said.

Here are quick steps to delete your account on WhatsApp:

For Android devices:

Step 1. Launch the WhatsApp application on your Android device.

Step 2. Click on the three dots (More options) in the top-right corner.

Step 3. Select ‘Settings’ and then scroll down and choose ‘Account’ option.

Step 4. Click on ‘Delete my account’ and enter your phone number in full international format.

Step 5. Select a reason for why you wish to delete your account from the dropdown menu.

Step 6. Click on Delete My Account.

For iOS devices:

Step 1. Open WhatsApp on your iOS device

Step 2. Go to Settings option and then select ‘Delete My Account’ in the Account section.

Step 3. Provide your phone number in the full international format and click on ‘Delete My Account’.

What happens after you delete your WhatsApp account?

Deleting your account erases your message history and removes you from all your WhatsApp groups. It also deletes your Google Drive backup and removes you as a channel admin or follower, but your updates remain visible to followers.

WhatsApp further states that it may take up to 30 days from the beginning of the process to delete your information from the app.
