Ridhi Dogra has been making headlines for her recent role in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan. Prior to stepping into films, Riddhi worked extensively in several television shows including Maryada: Lekin Kab Tak and Diya Aur Baati Hum among others. In a recent interview, Ridhi recalled her character was once asked to throw acid on the ‘heroine’ of her show. The actress shared she had a ‘big fight’ after she refused to do the scene and tried to explain to the makers that such scenes would not send out a good message to the audience.
“There was a show in which I was playing a negative character. I refused 50 things that they wanted me to do. They told me that my character would throw acid on the heroine. I had a big fight with the whole channel. I said, ‘I won’t shoot it. This thing will be aired at the primetime and why would you want to put the idea in the head of a guy who is irritated with a girl?’” Ridhi told Hauterfly in a recent interview.
However, Ridhi’s protest was assumed to be an excuse to not look bad on the screen. “Then it was the same conversation, ‘Oh, she doesn’t want to look bad, she wants to be a heroine.’ I said I can do 50 things to look bad, but I won’t do this and won’t even let you did this,” she added.
Ridhi also revealed that she was often questioned about her choice of being a part of the television industry since it is considered regressive by many. Talking about the same, the actress said, “One, I am making great money and secondly, being here and being able to change something, is a bigger high.”
While Ridhi is already getting a lot of appreciation for her performance in Jawan, she was recently also seen in Mumbai Diaries 2. Next, Ridhi will also feature in Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s much-awaited movie Tiger 3, which will hit theatres on Diwali this year.
