Bengaluru Man Says Stepping Out In Bengaluru Rain Turned Into A 'Life Or Death Situation'
As Bengaluru grappled with unprecedented rainfall, an individual found himself caught in a 'life-or-death situation' on a flooded road with a sparking electric cable just meters away from him.

In the midst of heavy rains battering Bengaluru, a resident shared a harrowing tale of survival that will give you chills down your spine. As the city grappled with unprecedented flooding, the individual found himself caught in a life-or-death situation on a flooded road with a sparking electric cable just meters away from him. The Bengaluru man shared his experience on the Grapevine app, a platform for verified professionals to have discussions anonymously, and cautioned others against stepping out unless absolutely necessary.

Recalling the harrowing experience, the man said that he was travelling by scooter, and when he was on 80 Feet Road, the water levels were high enough to enter the vehicle’s exhaust. Soon enough, his two-wheeler stopped working on the waterlogged road, forcing him to push it all the way to a friend’s house nearby.

It was after this moment when the user who goes by the pseudonym Jordan Lee wrote on the social media Grapevine, “Just faced a life-or-death situation in this rain.” He shared, “As I left home, the rain was heavy but manageable. By the time I reached the Sony Signal, it started raining very heavily. The roads were extremely bad, and the traffic was just not moving. The worst part is that while I was on 80 Feet Road, my scooter stalled.”

The man’s ordeal did not end there. He further shared how he took swift action to save his life. “Suddenly I saw an electrical cable fall on the ground, and it started sparking just 10 meters away from me. I got really scared and started pushing my scooter to my friend’s place nearby. Once I reached there, I ordered an Ola Auto. The worst thing is that it cost me 500 to travel 6 km today,” he explained.

The man added that when the Ola auto arrived for pickup, the driver hiked up the fare, threatening to cancel the ride. Left with no other option, the man decided to pay the hugely inflated sum. “I was already so scared that I left my scooter at my friend’s place and reached home. I am literally shaking while writing this post,” he said. At the end, the individual urged people not to step out unless absolutely necessary.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast very heavy rain for Bengaluru and surrounding districts of the north interior, coastal and south interior of Karnataka till October 18. The department has also predicted isolated heavy rain over Udupi, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Uttara Kannada, Davangere and Tumakuru districts on Thursday.
