The mere sight of him gripping the bat sends a ripple of anticipation through the crowd, for everyone knows that when Tendulkar steps onto the field, magic is bound to unfold, and the runs start flowing as effortlessly as a river. And such anticipation surrounded the 50-year-old batter as he graced the ISPL 2024 that brought together the entertainment industry and cricketing stars.

However, amidst the thrill of witnessing him in action, an unexpected twist unfolded when he was dismissed by none other than Bigg Boss 17 victor Munawar Faruqui, adding a dash of unexpected drama to the spectacle and giving one of the rarest moments to grace the field.

It all unfolded during the 5th over of the special cricket match at the opening ceremony. Tendulkar, having already unleashed a quick-fire 30 runs from just 16 deliveries, faced the second ball of Munawar’s first over. With an audacious attempt to dispatch a delivery outside the off-stump, Tendulkar found himself mistiming the shot, only to be caught at gully by wicketkeeper Naman Ojha, plunging the stadium into what the commentator aptly described as ‘Complete silence.’

Meanwhile, Tendulkar shared the opening partnership with Amir Hussain Lone, captain of J&K’s para-cricket team, a bond forged during Tendulkar’s recent visit to Kashmir. Inspired by Lone’s extraordinary skill and resilience despite his disabilities, Tendulkar found himself in awe.

Nonetheless, with Tendulkar’s Master’s XI setting a challenging target of 95 runs in 10 overs, Khiladi XI fell short, tasting defeat by a mere 5 runs.

For those unfamiliar, The Indian Street Cricket League (ISPL) kickstarted on March 6 with a clash between Amitabh Bachchan’s Majhi Mumbai and Akshay Kumar’s Srinagar Ke Veer. However, before the commencement of the inaugural match, a special cricket showdown unfolded at the opening ceremony, featuring Sachin Tendulkar’s ‘Team Master’s XI’ emerging victorious against Team Khiladi XI, captained by Akshay Kumar.
