Man Adds Lyrical Twist To Panchayat's Theme Song, Internet Says 'Don't Ruin It'
A Mumbai-based singer recently added lyrics to the popular theme music of Prime Video's Panchayat starring Jitendra Kumar.

Prime Video’s rural drama Panchayat has won hearts, connecting deeply with audiences across its three seasons. Featuring a stellar cast of actors like Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy and Durgesh Kumar, among others, the show focuses on a small town, Phulera and its village politics. While Panchayat essentially captures the essence of rural India with its heartfelt narrative and compelling characters, its songs and theme music have also impressed everyone.

Giving a lyrical twist to the iconic Panchayat theme music, a Mumbai-based singer has now created a new version. Palash Shrivastava went creative and took inspiration from Phulera’s settings and the key characters to add lyrics in sync with the music. As the song plays, Shrivastava begins by talking about Phulera, further mentioning the lead characters and their unique characteristics. The verses are affectionate as well as humorous, bringing the characters to life.

“Iss gaon ka naam hai Phulera. Hain yahan Pradhan aur Prahlad Cha. Sachiv Ji hain hamare nayak, inki aakhaon mein hai sapne. Vikas unke hain sahayak. Manju devi bhi pradhan. Sachiv ji ne sikhaya pura rashtra gaan. Banrakash hain and aur Vinod bhi, jinke kaaran hoti nok jhok bhi. Purab hai paschim hai, sar chadha Vidhayak hai. Rinkiya tanki pe chadhi. Lauki hai nautanki hai, gazab bezzati bhi,” the song’s lyrics read.

Sharing his song on Instagram, the singer wrote, “Here’s my take on Panchayat’s iconic theme with a lyrical twist.” As the post gained significant attention, the official Prime Video handle commented, “Listening to this on loop.” A section of social media users didn’t seem much impressed with the lyrics while some praised it. A user wrote, “Don’t ruin our favourite series,” while another commented, “Superb.”

“Some instrumentals are to be left as instrumentals,” another user chimed. Someone wrote, “Lyrics could have been better.”

The video has amassed over 4 million views. Talking about the show, Panchayat season 3 recently premiered on Amazon Prime Video, once again leaving fans overwhelmed and on a cliffhanger with its interesting climax.
