The Solifugae spiders are that these animals cannot harm humans because they are not venomous.

Spiders can be one of the worst nightmares for many people. A Reddit user faced a similar situation recently and posted a photo of a spider on social media. The picture shows a ferocious-looking bug walking through the floor of the house. The user wrote, “This bug is randomly walking through my house, it’s big and terrifying”. The Reddit user also asked his fellow mates the name of this bug. “Is it a termite?”, the social media user added to the question.

Other users came up with different answers to this question. One of them commented, “Solifugae, aka sun spider. They have a nasty bite and will eat scorpions when given the chance. We have them all over out here in the Mojave desert.”

Another had a sigh of relief that the spider was not flying.

An interesting fact about the Solifugae spiders (also called sun spiders) is that these animals cannot harm humans because they are not venomous. the powerful chelicerae of the spider may inflict a painful nip, but nothing medically significant. Apart from the interesting facts about the Solifugae spiders, some myths are also prevalent about them. As per the claims, these spiders aggressively chase people. However, these myths are not true, as they are merely trying to stay in the shade/shadow provided by humans.

A similar case surfaced on social media in 2023 where a UK man named Danny Higgins spotted a huge spider in his friend’s house. In the image that went viral on the internet, the huge beast can be seen hanging from the wall. However, instead of getting frightened by the animal, or killing it, Danny and his friend thought of a different tactic. They reached out to Environmental Health to help them catch the spider. Higgins wrote that the organisation had arranged to pick this big boy up.

He thanked everyone for their suggestions and advice. The UK man added that he is keeping a safe distance from the spider and a watchful eye on him as well. He wished that until then, may the odds forever be in his favour.
