Pregnant Woman On Vegetarian Diet Receives Chicken Thali, Zomato Reacts
A resident of Bengaluru ordered a vegetarian meal for his pregnant wife, who had been advised to steer clear of non-vegetarian food.

The popularity of food delivery apps has surged in recent years, offering a convenient solution for busy lifestyles. However, along with this convenience comes a rise in complaints regarding food quality, late deliveries, incorrect orders and missing items. A recent incident in Bengaluru highlights these concerns, where a resident received non-vegetarian food instead of the vegetarian meal they had ordered.

The user shared their experience on X, detailing how they had ordered a paneer thali but received a chicken thali instead. This mix-up was particularly concerning as the meal was intended for the man’s pregnant wife. She had been advised to avoid non-vegetarian food during her first trimester. The incident, shared online, has sparked discussions about the reliability and accuracy of food delivery services.

Tagging the food delivery app, the individual wrote, “Zomato care to explain why a Non Veg Thali was sent when the order was of Paneer Thali, how do you expect a vegetarian to eat chicken, care to explain, that also she is a pregnant lady, what if things could have gone wrong?”

Reacting to the X post, Zomato wrote, “We discussed your recent bumpy experience via call and gave you the best resolution from our end. Thank you for being patient throughout.”

In a separate post, the Deepinder Goyal-led organisation added, “We make amends for this mix-up and understand how distressing it must’ve been for you. We take your dietary preferences very seriously and would never intend to disrespect them. Please allow us some time to get this checked and we will get back to you via call or email.”

In response to the post, one user argued that eating non-vegetarian food might not harm the woman’s health. However, restaurant not delivering the correct order, should be held responsible for the mix up.

Another user voiced criticism towards those who opt for online food delivery despite the additional costs involved. They suggested that it would be preferable for everyone to personally purchase food rather than relying on delivery services and subsequently complaining about mistakes.

Meanwhile, talking to Hindustan Times, the customer Shobhit Siddharth said, “I have ordered two meals, one chicken and one paneer for my wife. We are expecting a baby and the doctor has told us to avoid non-veg food for a couple of months. We ordered veg food for her, but instead of sending the same, they sent both non-veg thalis, which could have led to contamination as she is in her first trimester.”

The post has garnered over 2,000 views.
