Various inspiring stories go viral on social media. Recently, a 74-year-old environmental enthusiast is making headlines as he has been growing bonsai plants in his home in Jabalpur for the past 42 years. According to reports, this elderly couple has planted 2500 bonsai plants in their home. There is no corner left of their house where they haven’t planted a tree. They treat these bonsai plants like their own children. To protect those plants, they even installed CCTV cameras to monitor them all day.

The green activist said he grew 40 varieties of plants and trees, including 25 from a sub-group of ficus species like peepal and banyan, using the popular Japanese art form.

The 74-year-old Sohanlal Dwivedi, retired from Jabalpur’s electricity department, is playing an important role in environmental protection. Now, he is known as ‘Bonsai Man’ in the whole of Jabalpur. As per reports, he has prepared a collection of bonsai plants from his 40-year life savings. It includes more than 40 species, including ornamental plants, seasonal fruits, oranges, lemons, bananas, peepals, berries and cacti, to name a few.

Meanwhile, in a recent media interaction, he shared about his journey. Sohanlal Dwivedi said that while he was reading the newspaper during his job at the electricity department, he got inspired to plant Bonsai. After this, he also discussed the matter with his wife, Neelima Dwivedi. His wife did not support him initially because he was not going to earn anything from this. Despite this, due to his dedication and hobby, he slowly started collecting bonsai on the roof of the house. Seeing the Bonsai, he was also invited to Bhopal. There, everyone was stunned to see his collection. People lined up to meet him. Later, seeing his dedication and handwork, his wife changed her mind and started helping with this work. So now both husband and wife together nurture 2500 bonsai plants like their children.

Sohanlal also claimed that he has the largest collection of bonsai plants in the country. This record will soon be registered in the Limca Book of Records. Meanwhile, Sohanlal is working to make people aware of the environment. Nature lover Sohanlal has gathered information about Bonsai by visiting big cities like Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. He has also received training for it. After this, he made a huge collection of bonsai at his home.
