Green leafy vegetables are one of the important parts of our healthy diet. High in fibres, vitamins and minerals, they help in weight management, promote a healthy heart, improve digestion, bolster our immune system and carry many other health benefits. Before the onset of technology, many people used to rely on their lands to produce vegetables. However, now with the increase in urbanisation, most are dependent on the farmer for the vegetables. But the sad truth of technological evolution is the use of fertilisers in the produce. It often poses a risk for numerous diseases.
A video of the same is now going viral in which a man is spotted sprinkling a powder on the green cabbage in a bid to keep it fresh for the market. The video clip has gone viral now.
In the viral video, a person was allegedly spraying a chemical powder on cabbage filled in the trunk of a truck. It is believed that these powders are often sprinkled to keep the vegetable fresh for a long time. Due to it remaining fresh for a long time, it can be kept for sale in the market for many days. But his powder sprinkled on them is no less than poison for humans, claimed by an Instagram user Anjum. She uploaded a video of a man sprinkling chemicals on the cabbage. She also cautioned people to beware of such vegetables as they pose a risk for heart attacks, skin problems and cancer. She advises users to boil cabbage in salt water for one minute to remove pesticides. Take a look at the video:
The users flocked to the comments section to express their views regarding this matter. They started blaming the Union government for their ignorance of food safety. “He’s not the only one at fault. Question authorities who have not banned that chemical, stop the sale of chemical first”, said one of the users. Others demanded strict action against this guy. Some users also questioned the credibility of the video and said that it was not from India.
