Watch: Tamil Nadu Football Coach Brutally Beats Students Over Poor Performance, Internet Furious

While educators play an important role in an individual’s life, they are also responsible for guiding young students and motivating them with their positive spirits and kind words. However, a teacher in Tamil Nadu’s Salem district has let down the morals. A disturbing visual going viral on the Internet shows a physical education teacher brutally beating the school’s football players over their unsatisfactory performance in the game.

Identified as Annamalai, the teacher works at a school near Mettur in Tamil Nadu’s Salem. According to reports, the Annamalai-coached football team took part in a competition but could not meet his expectations. As a result, an infuriated Annamalai started bashing them badly. Caught on camera, he even slapped them, kicked them, and pulled their hair during the incident.

The video also shows the teacher asking the players questions like, “Are you a man or a woman? How can you let him score? How did you let the ball get past you?” As soon as the video went viral, the Sangagiri District Education Officer reportedly launched a probe and submitted his findings to both the department and the district collector. Annamalai was suspended as a punishment for his actions.

Despite the swift action, the video has left the internet quite furious, as many expressed anger over the teacher’s behaviour. A user wrote, “Who is he????? He should be banned from football.”

Another commented, “The coaches like this are the reason we are not reaching anywhere in football. The aim should be the development of players not result-oriented. Our coaches are still in the 1950s era.”

“This guy should be sacked immediately, even if he is the greatest school football coach ever. There are better ways to ensure your players perform better, and losing is a part of the game, you can’t treat players like this ever. He’s probably taking out his own frustration on them,” a comment read.

On the other hand, a section of users came forward to justify such behaviour, stating that such measures of disciplining help to mould the students. “Our PT used to beat us and we never complained then but instead performed well, things changed a lot,” one wrote.

“Very good training…they will remember forever their mistakes and how to rectify them,” one wrote.
