Whether in India or the US, traffic woes appear to be universal. New York City, known for its car-jammed streets, has been grappling with increasing traffic volumes. While daily commuters typically have no choice but to wait for congestion to ease, one woman opted for an unconventional solution by travelling via helicopter instead of taking a cab.
Khushi Suri, an Indian-American woman, had to pay Rs 2,500 extra for the helicopter ride but managed to save a lot of time in the process. She was planning to travel from Manhattan to Queens, the route notoriously known for being the hardest hit by traffic delays.
Taking to social media, Khushi shared her experience while also explaining the difference in fare and time between an Uber cab and a Blade helicopter. While an Uber ride from Manhattan to John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens would cost her $131.99 (Rs 11,000) for an hour, the Blade helicopter ride for the same route costs $165 (approx Rs 13,765). The star point is that the ride would take only five minutes.
“60 min uber or 5 min helicopter ride – literally a $30 difference,” Khushi wrote along with screenshots of the rides.

Khushi’s story went viral instantly, garnering a lot of reactions on social media. While some were surprised by the minor difference in cost and the quick travel time, others shared their own experience.
A user wrote, “Did this a few years ago, amazing and so fast,” while another commented, “You gotta go with the helicopter just for the vibes.”
“Go blade! Stocks undervalued too,” another user wrote. To questions on which alternative she went for, Suri confirmed that she chose a helicopter for her journey.
Notably, Fly Blade has become one of the most popular travel alternatives to customer Uber rides, known for arranging helicopters for civilian travel in the US. Headquartered in New York City, the helicopters are primarily used on passenger routes. Users can book a spot on the chopper through their official Blade application. Also, discount codes are offered for referrals, similar to what Khushi explained, and shared her code for anyone wanting 50 per cent off on their first Blade helicopter ride.
