New Delhi: The look on India’s spin spearhead Ravichandran Ashwin as he took a look at the wicket at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Thursday morning said it all. A wry smile was enough to ring the warning bells for Alastair Cook & Co.

The joy as he took a close look at the wicket in the company of teammates Ravindra Jadeja and Jayant Yadav was clear indication that another 10-wicket haul is in the offing for the No. 1 Test bowler.

Test skipper Virat Kohli has made no bones about the fact that Ashwin has been an instrumental factor in India consolidating their position at the top of the ICC Test Rankings and with a wicket to his liking, Ashwin will be expected to spin a web on the already clueless English batsmen.

In fact, post the win in Mumbai, Ashwin had send out a strong message to the visiting side when he said that he was looking forward to playing the fifth Test of the series on his home ground.

But credit must also be given to the groundsmen who have done an immaculate job to keep the pitch dry even as Cyclone Vardha created havoc in Chennai on Monday and Tuesday.

The trick behind safeguarding the pitch was to tie the covers to iron poles. The poles helped to keep the covers in their place despite the strong wind.
