'Every Day is Daughter's Day': Gautam Gambhir Shares Heartfelt Tribute to His Daughters on Social Media
But, there's more to life than just cricket for Gambhir, who took to social media to share a glimpse into his life as a father of two daughters, on the occasion of International Daughter's Day.

We’ve all seen the aggressive, calculated, and fiery Gambhir. But, the Indian team’s head coach displayed a more caring and doting part of himself as a father, as footage of Gambhir shopping for his daughters arose on social media.

Gambhir, who took over the reins after T20 World Cup-winning coach Rahul Dravid, secured his first Test win with the Indian side, as they demolished Bangladesh in the first Test of their two-match series in Chennai on Sunday.

But, there’s more to life than just cricket for Gambhir, who took to social media to share a glimpse into his life as a father of two daughters, on the occasion of International Daughter’s Day.

“Throwback to when dad was on a mission to ‘spoil’ his girls! Every day is a Daughter’s Day when I get to see those smiles #DadsLove #DaughtersDay,” wrote Gambhir on his post on Instagram.

Earlier in the day, Gambhir took to Instagram to praise his Indian players after the Rohit Sharma-led side beat Bangladesh by 280 runs in the first Test played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

The 42-year-old Gambhir shared two pictures of Indian players on his Instagram stories and captioned them, “A fantastic start! Well done boys!”

Gambhir, who played in 58 Tests, 147 ODIs and 37 T20Is for India during his playing days, was appointed as India’s head coach on July 9, 2024, after Rahul Dravid’s contract came to an end. The hero of India’s 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup final win made his coaching debut against Sri Lanka during the limited overs series in July-August, but the match against Bangladesh was his first Test as India’s head coach.

In the first home game of the 2024-25 season, India dismissed Bangladesh for 234 runs in the second inning to secure a big win and go 1-0 up in the two-match series.

Ravichandran Ashwin picked up six wickets for 88 runs in the second innings to help India successfully defend the target of 515, whereas Ravindra Jadeja got rid of three Bangladeshi batters.

Apart from Ashwin, Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant also scored centuries for India in the second innings. They added 167 runs for the fourth wicket on the third day of the match, whereas star pacer Jasprit Bumrah dismissed four Bangladeshi batters in the first inning.

The second Test of the series is set to start on September 27 at Green Park in Kanpur.
