'I Made a Terrible Mistake': AB de Villiers Admits he Shared 'False Information' on Virat Kohli
South Africa batting legend AB de Villiers had claimed Virat Kohli's second child is on the way on his YouTube channel.

The unconfirmed reports of Virat Kohli expected to miss the remainder of the ongoing England Test series have resulted in speculations over India batting superstar’s absence. Kohli was initially named in India’s squad for the first two Tests of the five-match series before withdrawing his name citing personal reasons.

AB de Villiers had then revealed that Kohli’s second child is on the way leading to assumptions that it’s the reason behind him missing the first two Tests.

“Yes, his second child is on the way. Yes, it’s family time and things are important to him. If you are not true and genuine to yourself, you lose track of what you are here for. I think most people’s priority is family. You can’t judge Virat for that,” de Villiers said on his YouTube channel.

However, De Villiers has now retracted his statement, admitting he spread ‘false information’ on Kohli and nobody knows what’s happening.

“Absolutely family comes first, it’s a priority, as I said on my YouTube show. Also, I made a terrible mistake at the same time and yeah, sharing false information which was not true at all. No one knows what’s happening,” he told news agency IANS.

“That’s all I can do is wish him well and I think the whole world that follows Virat and that enjoys his cricket, must just wish him well, and whatever the reason is for this break. Really hope that he comes back stronger, better, healthier, and fresh,” the the former South Africa captain added.

Kohli is expected to come back for the remaining three Tests of the series between India and England which is currently locked at one-all. However, the BCCI is mum on his availability with various media reports claiming he might end up missing the entire five matches.

Kohli last played for India in the Afghanistan T20I series in January this year.
