Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis smashed Harshit Rana of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for a six but lost his wicket in the very next ball in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Friday.

The incident happened on the last two balls of the second over.

Harshit Rana bowled it on a length and outside off as Faf du Plessis walked across his stumps to scoop it over short fine leg. He quickly realised that the line of the ball was not there for him to go over short fine leg and he managed to adjust at the last minute. He ramped it over the keeper’s head and it sailed over the third man fence for a maximum.

On the very next ball, the last of the over, Harshit Rana bowled a superb slower ball as Faf du Plessis tried the scoop again. It did not come off the second time. Rana took pace off and bowled it on a good length on off as Faf du Plessis moved to the off side, exposing all his stumps, to scoop it over short fine leg. There was no pace for du Plessis to work with and it lobbed in the direction of Mitchell Starc at short fine leg who took a simple catch.
