The head coach of the Lucknow Super Giants, Justin Langer, revealed in his column that he had visited the Dharavi, India’s largest slum which was located in Mumbai. The former Australian international had narrated his experience of what it was like and reflected on the kind of luxury he has currently and remains grateful for it.
Langer revealed his interaction with one of the massage therapists from the side, Rajesh Chandrashekhar whom he calls (RC). In one of his first interactions after joining the side, Langer had inquired what his role was, in addition to being a masseuse, he was also a hairdresser and he had offered to give a haircut to the LSG head coach.
Whilst receiving his haircut RC revealed his family history and had decided that he and his brother would go to visit their home in Dharavi.

Following their last game of the season which was against Mumbai Indians, Langer had followed up on his promise and went on to visit the slum and was received by his family.
He talked about his interactions with the Chandrashekhar family. They also shared lunch together and following the get-together, they also visited a local church as part of the local tradition.
Langer reflected upon his trip to the slums and had one major takeaway as the Indian Premier League came to a close.
“After a life of living what I would now define as extreme luxury, I was humbled like never before seeing how other human beings live their day-to-day lives. What struck me about our visit to RC’s house was that while they seemed to have nothing, they also had everything they really needed to be happy,” Langer concluded.

Langer will definitely take the learnings from this experience and put it forward for the Lucknow Super Giants’ next season in the Indian Premier League as the franchise’s wait for the coveted title continues.
