IIT JEE Advanced 2024: Here's What You Need To Know About Seat Allocation
JOSAA is an agency under the Ministry of Education that manages and regulates the joint seat allocation for admissions over 100 institutions.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is one of the prestigious engineering institutions of India. It is often considered as the priority for admission when looking for B.Tech courses after class 12. To secure admission, candidates need to pass the JEE Advance exam which is held every year. This year IIT JEE Advance will take place across India on May 26. The results will be announced on June 9. The candidates get admission based on their rankings in the exam. The candidates are allocated seats in the college after going through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority ( JOSAA) counselling. Hence, it becomes important to understand the seat matrix of JOSAA.

JOSAA is an agency under the Ministry of Education that manages and regulates the joint seat allocation for admissions over 100 institutions. This includes 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs and other Technical Institutes funded fully or partially by the Central Government. You can check the latest updates on seat allotment and IIT counselling on the official website of JOSAA–https://josaa.nic.in/. The seat matrix for this year is expected to be released on June 10.

The total number of seats in IITs is more than 17,000. To get a fair idea of the JOSAA seat matrix for this year, let’s take a look at the number of seats offered in various engineering institutions under JOSAA counselling in 2023.

IITs – 17385 seats

NITs – 23954 seats

IIITs – 7746 seats

GFTIs – 8067 seats.

The total seats were 57,152 under JOSAA Counselling.
