It is often believed that when a son of a family chooses the right path, it inspires the entire family to follow the same direction. A similar narrative unfolds in the story of a mason’s son Sudeep Maiti who defied the constraints of poverty to pursue his dreams. Despite the challenging financial circumstances at home, Sudeep remained resilient and determined. As a result, he secured an opportunity to work at DRDO, one of the most esteemed institutions in the country.
Since childhood, Sudeep had a dream of serving in the country’s defence sector, a dream that has now become a reality despite the challenges of poverty. Hailing from Mohammad Murad Maiti Para area under Purushottampur village panchayat in Panshkura block, West Bengal, Sudeep Maiti achieved an opportunity to work in DRDO, the national defence research and development organisation. Coming from a humble background, Sudeep’s family, including his grandfather Govinda Maiti, who worked as a mason, struggled with poverty. Despite Govinda Babu’s lifelong involvement in construction work, the family could not afford to build their own house due to financial constraints.
Despite the challenging circumstances, Sudeep’s wife, Nilimadevi, stood steadfastly by his side throughout the difficult struggle. Additionally, Govinda Maiti supported his children’s education by rolling bidis to cover the costs. Despite their efforts, they could only afford to marry off two daughters. Unfortunately, the family did not receive a house under the state housing plan, resulting in them residing in a dwelling with only three walls. Nevertheless, their only son, Sudeep, is now pursuing his dreams with determination.
Sudeep has demonstrated remarkable promise and talent since his early years. He received his primary education at Durga Primary School in the same village. Alongside completing his Polytechnic education, Sudeep has also obtained a B.Tech degree and is presently pursuing an M.Tech degree at IIT Guwahati.
