Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the permanent campus of IIM Sambalpur. The grand campus of the Indian Institute Of Management–Sambalpur has been built by the Education ministry with an outlay of Rs 400 crore. “Sambalpur IIM has achieved the distinction as a leading educational institution of the country during the last ten years,” said union education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan.
“Glad to have inaugurated the campus of IIM Sambalpur. When an institution like this gets a modern campus, it leads to several benefits. Students from all over India will come here to study. It will also improve the local economy and make Sambalpur a hub for learning,” the prime minister said on microblogging site X.

According to the official press release, the permanent campus is located in Basantpur, on 200-acre land. The foundation stone for the institute was laid on January 2, 2021. The campus was designed and supervised by DDF Consultants in association with NBCC India. The campus has multiple lecture halls, video conferencing facilities, and eleven hostels with accommodation for 600 students.
PM Modi also laid the foundation of several other infrastructural projects worth more than Rs 68,000 crore during his visit to Odisha on Saturday. This includes a 412-km-long ‘Dhamra-Angul Pipeline Section’ of ‘The Jagdishpur-Haldia & Bokaro-Dhamra Pipeline Project (JHBDPL)’. He also laid the foundation stone of the ‘Nagpur Jharsuguda Natural Gas Pipeline Section’ (692 km) of the Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda Pipeline.
The prime minister was also slated to lay the foundation stone of multiple power projects worth about Rs 28,980 crore including the NTPC Darlipali Super Thermal Power Station (2×800 MW) and NSPCL Rourkela PP-II Expansion Project (1×250 MW) in Sundargarh district of Odisha as well as the NTPC Talcher Thermal Power Project, Stage-III (2×660 MW) in Angul district and the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) Talabira Thermal power project worth more than Rs 27,000 crore.
