New Delhi: Mohun Bagan General Secretary Anjan Mitra accused the All India Football Federation (AIFF) of overlooking the Constitution by appointing an arbitrator in the ongoing tussle between the above mentioned two parties.
Goal.com had earlier reported that the Indian FA showed it’s ineptness by not following the rules mentioned in their Constitution when they appointed an arbitrator. An arbitrator is appointed only when all the previous stages of appeal have been exhausted which hasn’t happened in the case in question.
"The AIFF Executive Committee members aren’t aware that an arbitrator has been appointed. They have taken a decision and the appointment of an arbitrator is just a show of trying to solve the case. They have not followed their own Constitution and this is killing Indian football as football in this country is being run by such people," Mohun Bagan General Secretary Anjan Mitra told Goal.com.
Certain sections believe that in the AIFF Executive Committee on the eve of the Nehru Cup final, it was decided to refer the matter for a legal opinion and not to appoint an arbitrator; which Mitra hinted in his statement.
The Mariners first began this line of dialogue on September 13th when the questioned the legality of the arbitration process and also asked whether the Indian FA had followed the Constitution.
Meanwhile, the arbitrator is being paid a hefty amount to resolve the case by the AIFF, which only goes to show that they can shell out big money so that the decision is being taken by a third party instead of themselves.
Amarendra Sharan, the AIFF appointed arbitrator, had asked the two warring parties to submit their replies and arguments by Tuesday evening but Mohun Bagan hasn’t sent their report as yet.
"Our lawyers shall decide on this," informed Mitra.
Sharan believes that if the answers aren’t submitted he shall take the arguments into perspective when he announces his decision later this week.
"If the answers aren’t submitted then I shall look into their line of arguments and base my decision on them. The decision shall come sometime later in the week as I need time to think," said Sharan.
