Former Manchester United and England player Steve Coppell will be the new coach for Kerala Blasters for the third season of the Indian Super League.

Former Manchester United and England player Steve Coppell will be the new coach for Kerala Blasters for the third season of the Indian Super League.

The former winger played over 300 games for Manchester United scoring 53 goals and even represented England on 42 occasions. He found back of net seven times for the national team.

According to sources, the team management are on verge of announcing the deal with the former Manchester City coach and the official announcement can be done by Monday evening.

The 60-year-old has over 30 years of coaching experience which has included stints at Crystal Palace (four times), Man City, Reading among others.

The Kochi-based franchise were also interested in bring back David James for third season but the goalkeeper was not interested returning to India.

The co-owners Sachin Tendulkar and Nagarjuna gave also gave indications in their tweets on Sunday regarding the appointment of new Blasters' manager without naming anyone.

"KBCFC official has finalized their new coach for the upcoming season," Sachin tweeted to which his partner, Nagarjuna, retweeted.

"He's visiting India this week. Excited to meet the ex-Man United player."
