How to Use a Payid
How to Use a Payid
PayID is an Australia-based payment service that makes it easy to send money to others without having to memorize bank account numbers. Many (but not all) banks in Australia participate in the PayID program, including CommBank, Australian Unity, and Bank of Heritage Isle. This wikiHow will show you how to sign up for and use PayID.
Steps

Signing Up

Open your banking app log in to your bank's website. Since many different banks in Australia use PayID, there are no absolute steps to follow. Some banks that participate with PayID include the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Citi Bank, Causal, ANZ, ASL, AWA Alliance Bank, Australian Unity, Australian Military Bank, Assembly, Banquets, Bank of Heritage Isle, etc. For a complete list, visit https://nppa.com.au/find-an-institution/.

Navigate to Account Services. You'll most likely find this in a menu under your account name or in a self-serve portal.

Click or tap to register for PayID. Whether you're using a mobile banking app or a website, you should see a button to register or sign up for PayID. You'll most likely need to confirm your phone number if you opt to use it to receive payments. You can only have a PayID linked to one bank account at a time.

Sending Money

Open your banking app or go to your bank account online. Since many different banks in Australia use PayID, there are usually different terms or processes for a step.

Select the option to Pay Someone. This is on the home screen for many banking apps like Commbank and Greater Bank.

Enter the recipient's contact information. You can either use their bank account information, phone number, email address, or business information. If the recipient has a PayID, you'll see the PayID logo next to their name after entering their info. If they aren't signed up with PayID, you might need more information, such as their bank account number.

Enter any other requested payment details. You usually have a limit of 280 characters in the payment detail section.

Follow the on-screen instructions to send your payment. You might need to confirm the payment by entering a code texted to you in the app. If this is your first payment with PayID, your funds may be held for up to 24 hours as a security measure. You don't need a PayID to send or receive a payment.

Receiving Money

Sign up for PayID. Others can use your phone number or email address to send you money instead of using your bank account information when you sign up for PayID.

Have them make the payment. There's no pressure on you to receive money from a PayID transaction. After you set up your PayID, you just have to wait for them to send the money.

Find the payment in your transaction history. You might, depending on the notification settings you set for your bank account, get a notification for the payment, but you'll find the Osko logo in the details section of the transaction to see it was made with PayID. You might see the transaction as Pending if the sender sends money for the first time.

What's your reaction?
