1 Policeman Killed in a Suspected Terror Attack in Poonch

Jammu: A policeman was killed in a gun battle with suspected terrorists in Poonch district of Jammu region on Sunday morning.

The exchange of fire began around 7:40 am near the Army's 93 Brigade headquarters, police sources said.

"The terrorists fired at the policemen and army jawans from an under construction building of the mini-secretariat. It is suspected that three militants are hiding in the building," he said.

DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range Johny Williams confirmed that one policeman has died in the ongoing encounter.

He said, "The gun battle between security forces and the terrorists is underway. The entire area has been cordoned off."
