 CUTTACK: In a tragic accident, two students of Dhaneswar Rath Institute of Engineering and Management Studies (DRIEMS) died when they were hit by a speeding truck on NH-5 near Nirgundi Railway Station on Saturday. According to reports, Sradhananda Natia, a fourth year student of Applied Electronics and Asutosh Behera, a third year student of the same discipline, were on their way to the college on their bike when they met with the accident. The truck in sheer violation of traffic rules sped on the wrong side and hit them head on. Both were crushed under the vehicle. They were rushed to SCB Medical here where doctors declared them brought dead. Tangi police rushed to the spot and seized the killer vehicle. The driver has also been arrested. Both the students hailed from Cuttack with Asutosh being from Sheikh Bazaar and Sradhananda from Ranihat Gouda Sahi. They were going to the college to take examinations. As the news of the tragedy spread, a pall of gloom descended on the institute. The College held a condolence meeting with students, faculty and staff mourning the duo.
