Opposition members were demanding resignation of CM Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for illegal possession of land.

New Delhi: The marshals were called in to evict the 35 Opposition members belonging to TDP, Telangana Rashtra Samithi and CPM were suspended on Thursday from the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly in Hyderabad for obstructing the proceedings.

They were demanding resignation of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for illegal possession of land.

As soon as the House assembled for the day, Opposition members start insisting that their adjournment motion on the controversial land issue be taken up for the discussion.

Disallowing the adjournment motion, Speaker K R Suresh Reddy said the discussion would be allowed on the issue immediately after the Question Hour.

As unrelenting Opposition stalled the proceedings by storming into the well, the Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah moved a motion under Rule 300 seeking suspension of 35 members for the period of Question Hour.

Ever since the Chief Minister announced surrender of 618 acres of land belonging to his family members in home district of Cuddapah, as they were found to be in excess of the permissible limit under Land Ceiling Act, the Opposition parties start demanding his resignation.

The Opposition members staged sit-in in the assembly lobby after their suspension from the House and raised slogans demanding Chief Minister's resignation.
