6 'al-Qaeda' militants arrested in Manipur
Sources say 10 of them were Myanmarese and five from Bangladesh.

Guwahati: Fifteen militants, six of whom are suspected to be al-Qaeda members, have been arrested in Manipur.

Assam Rifles arrested the 15 militants from Moreh town in Chandel district bordering Myanmar on Friday. Six of them are suspected to be members of al-Qaeda’s global finance and publicity divisions.

Officials said 10 of the suspects were from Myanmar and rest from Bangladesh and had entered India without valid documents.

The militants were proceeding to Bangladesh via Manipur and Silchar in Assam, sources said. A press release from the Assam Rifles said the 15 arrested people were handed over to the police on Monday.
