Activists condemn 20,000 animals' sacrifice in Nepal
Tens of thousands of buffaloes, goats and birds would be slaughtered.

Kathmandu: Animal rights activist have condemned the single largest mass slaughter of animals sacrifice which is going to take place in Nepal.

Tens of thousands of buffaloes, goats and birds would be slaughtered during the festival as part of the ritual sacrifice dating back hundred of years.

Thousands of devotees thronged the Gadhimai temple in Bariyapur village to attend the festival, which is held every five years.

The festival has attracted emphatic protests from around the world; however the organisers of the festivals have decided to go ahead.

Many foreign nationals have also joined in for the ritual.
