PUDUCHERRY: Former Chief Minister V Vaithilingam and Puducherry Congress president A V Subramaniam met AICC general secretary in charge of Puducherry Ghulam Nabi Azad in Delhi on Saturday.The leaders are believed to have held discussions to decide on the party candidate for the Indira Nagar by-elections, scheduled for October 13.In the April 13 election, All India Namathu Rajyam Congress chief and present Chief Minister Rangasamy defeated Congress rival V Arumugham by a margin of 16,677 votes. Arumugham could secure only 4,008 votes. But Rangasamy, who had won from two constituencies, decided to resign from Indira Nagar.Congress may field V Arumugham again in the constituency in the by-election.AIADMK has already announced A Venkateswaran Baskaran as party’s candidate.The election notification is expected to be made on September 19.The present party position in the 30 member Assembly: A I N R Congress 14, Congress 7, AIADMK 5, DMK 2, Independent-One, Vacant-One.
