CHENNAI/TIRUNELVELI: After an assurance by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on a State Cabinet resolution on the Koodankulam Atomic Power Plant, those who have been agitating demanding a closure of the facility may withdraw the strike on Thursday.Meanwhile, responding to a question, S P Udhayakumar, one of the coordinators of the stir, said, “The Centre is, indeed, adopting delaying tactics. The Centre had sent its minister only after CM’s statement.” To another query, he said that Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs V Narayanasamy never held talks with the protestors. He visited the venue and saw those on strike.  Asked why the agitation was staged all of a sudden, he said people have started to realise the evils of atomic power projects. Throughout the world, such projects were being shunned and India should also turn to safer ways of generating power, he said.Ahead of the meeting of the representatives from Koodankulam, Narayanasamy, who visited those on hunger strike at Idinthakarai on Tuesday, called on Jayalalithaa at the Secretariat and discussed the issue. Later, he told reporters that he would convey the message by the CM to the Prime Minister.  During the meeting, S K Jain, MD, Nuclear Power Corporation of India, A P Joshi, additional secretary, DAE, and M Kasinath Balaji, Project Director, Koodankulam Power Plant, were present.
