New Delhi: Long jumper Anju Bobby George jumped 6.32 metres to win the silver medal to win the silver medal at the Asian Indoor Championships in Pattaya.
The gold was claimed by Japanese Maho Hanaoka who covered a distance of 6.40 metres.
If Anju had won the event then she would have improved her current world ranking of four by two places.
She will also be competing at the World Indoor Championships in Moscow next month.
Anju will also be participating in the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and the Doha Asian Games.
But she would be dissappointed with her performance at the Championship as he silver medal winning effort was nowhere near of her personal best of 6.83 metres.
Ghamanda Ram clocked 1:51.47 to finish third and claimed a bronze in 800 metres race while in women's section OP Jaisha came third in the 3000 metres race.
Earlier, Sinimol Paulose opened India's account by winning the silver in the women's 800 metres event on Friday.
