ADILABAD: In a chilling incident, a 14-year-old boy was sacrificed by treasure-hunters at an abandoned fort on the outskirts of Shyamghad, near Nirmal in the district on Tuesday night.The incident came to light only Thursday during a police search for the boy, P Ganesh, who was reported missing. Police arrested two persons and are searching for another.The treasure-hunters slit the boy’s throat in a sacrifice to ‘propitiate gods’ and beat him to death with boulders. Cops retrieved the body from the old fort where the accused performed a puja. The body has been sent for postmortem.Ganesh was a student of Class IX at Chanakya Concept School in Nirmal town. His father Narasaiah is a tailor. According to the police, Ganesh went to school on Tuesday morning and had been missing ever since. Police have detained one Rathod Raju, a hotel worker, who on questioning, admitted to picking up Ganesh from school on the pretext of buying him samosas. Raju sold Ganesh to one Prabhakar and his friends for `20,000.
