Atwal drops to 58th at the Memorial
The Indian ace carded a two over 74 in the third round.

Dublin: A poor frontnine, after a good start, cost Arjun Atwal dear as he slipped to tied 58 after carding a two over 74 in the third round of the Memorial on the PGA Golf Tour.

Atwal birdied the second and fifth but dropped bogeys on third and seventh. A triple bogey on ninth spoiled his card further.

Not even a birdie on the 18th could help matters.

Steve Stricker stayed in the lead despite allowing it to be reduced over the last five holes.

He shot a 69 and was still three clear of Jonathan Byrd (69). Stricker at 12-under 204 is looking for a 10th career win on PGA Tour.

Stricker eagled both the second and fifth and a birdie on eighth meant he could run away. But he then missed three putts inside seven feet on final five holes.

Matt Kuchar (68) and Brandt Jobe (69) shared the third place at eight-under 208. Rory McIlroy (71) was one of three players at seven-under 209.
