Bypoll: Congress chooses Jiten Gond

BHUBANESWAR: The Congress has finalised the name of Jiten Gond, a practising lawyer, as its candidate for the by-election to Umerkote Assembly constituency. Jiten from Raighar town has been preferred over several other contenders, including former minister Parama Pujhari, by the Dambarudhar Ulaka committee. Sources said the name of the candidate will be announced within a day or two by the AICC. The BJD is leaving no stone unturned to retain the seat which fell vacant after the killing of Jagabandhu Majhi.
