Centenary of exile observed

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The centenary of the exile of Swadeshabhimani Ramakrishna Pillai from the erstwhile Travancore Kingdom was marked by paying tributes at the Swadeshabhimani Square at Palayam.The programme was organised under the aegis of Kerala Pathrapravarthaka Pensioners’ Association, and other journalists’ organisations such as IFSMN and JPAI.M M Hassan inaugurated the programme after garlanding the statue and offering flowers. Addressing the gathering, he said that Ramakrishna Pillai has set a lasting example as a fearless journalist who waged a battle with his pen against anarchy and oppression.President Poovachal Khadar, general secretary Mangalathokonam Krishnan and others participated.
