Convene special session, says AIADMK

PUDUCHERRY: The opposition AIADMK, on Monday,  called for convening a special session of the Puducherry Legislative Assembly to discuss several burning issues affecting the people of the Union Territory.‘Deteriorating’ law and order, the violence in Yanam leading to the death of two persons, (mis)administration in Yanam, non-disbursement of cyclone relief were issues needing discussion. AIADMK MLAs who went on a fact-finding mission to Yanam, in connection with the violence in Yanam, said a report would be submitted to the Lieutenant Governor on his return to Puducherry.A Anbazhagan alleged that the industrial violence in Yanam region of the union territory was created deliberately. Briefing newsmen, the AIADMK fact-finding committee led by him held discussions with the affected workers when it came to know that the industrial violence was deliberately created.He said, the ceramic industry had become a failure and the management wanted to close it and convert it into a medical college and hence, the violence was created. After the workers left the factory, the management hired help to destroy the property, he claimed.He retierated that the CM was ignoring the AIADMK’s demand for a judicial enquiry and was functioning in support of the factory.
