BSP supremo Mayawati on Wednesday accused the BJP and the Congress of catering to the rich and corporate at the expense of the welfare of poor, and said the policies of the state and central governments have forced Dalits and downtrodden to join the Naxal movement.
Appealing people to give her party a chance to "serve" Madhya Pradesh, which is going to polls on November 25, the former UP chief minister criticised the Land Acquisition Act, seen as one of the key flagship schemes by the UPA, saying it lacked special provision for Dalits and tribals.
"No special measures for protecting interest of Dalits, backwards and tribals were taken by the UPA government, which forced them to follow Naxalism and other wrong paths," Mayawati said addressing a election rally in Indore.
The BSP supremo alleged that both Congress and BJP framed their policies to only benefit rich by overlooking the interest of the poor.
"Due to rampant corruption, people were forced to pay bribes even for getting their petty works done in Madhya Pradesh. The poor and middle class are badly affected by corruption," Mayawati said.
She alleged that both the BJP and the Congress get elected with the help of rich businessmen.
