New Delhi: Uma Bharti, who remained defiant and trained guns on the BJP top brass on Tuesday over the Madhya Pradesh leadership issue, is expected to be formally suspended by the party's Parliamentary Board which meets in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Fed up with her "tantrums", the party's senior leaders have almost also made up their mind to put an end to the fiery Sanyasin's career in BJP and expel her to "avoid the constant embarassment being caused by her and to send a strong message to the party cadres" ahead of the change of leadership at the Centre, highly placed party sources said.
However, as a formality, she has been issued a show cause notice to explain within 72 hours why she should not be expelled from the party while six of her close associates including former Union Minister Prahlad Patel have already been suspended.
The party's second generation, which had closed ranks and had been asking for her scalp ever since they became the target of her verbal and written attacks, got a boost with the 'supreme leader' and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee terming her actions at the state legislature party meeting in Bhopal on Monday as the "height of indiscipline".
The presence of both Vajpayee and Advani at the swearing in ceremony of Shivraj Singh Chouhan as the Chief Minister has also left no one in doubt about the side in which the wind was blowing.
