New Delhi: The Justice Usha Mehra Committee on Friday submitted its report on the December 16, 2012 Delhi gangrape incident to the Centre. In its report, the committee found fault with the police, even as it blamed the 23-year-old braveheart's friend of changing his statement.
While the panel said that there was no delay in the response of PCR on the fateful night, it also blamed the police for not stopping the bus inside which the horrific crime was committed. The panel further pointed that there was huge shortage of PCR vans and public transport in the national capital.
"We did not find lapse in police response to the PCR call on 100...response was within 6 minutes of the PCR call," said Justice Usha Mehra.
In its report on the Delhi gangrape incident, the Justice Usha Mehra committee has said that there is no coordination between Delhi Police and other police departments in the NCR region.
The report has also blamed the friend of the 23-year-old Delhi braveheart, who accompanied her that night, for changing his statement. According to the report, his statement on a television channel was completely contrary to what he told the panel.
"He told us that treatment was given to him at hospital as soon as he reached...he also said that lying in pool of blood, every moment seemed like an hour to him," said the report.
