New Delhi: The enforcement directorate has attached properties of former Air Chief SP Tyagi's cousins worth Rs 6 crore in connection with the AgustaWestland scam. The properties attached include an apartment in DLF Phase 5, two plots in Sector 50 Noida and flat in Kailash Building at Connaught Place and a unit in Commercial Tower in Kaushambi.
UK's AgustaWestland had given a bribe of nearly 58 million euros allegedly through Christian Michel, Carlo Gerosa and Guido Haschke. It was alleged that the kickbacks amount was paid to various persons who helped in the deal.
The investigation by the Enforcement Directorate has revealed that out of the aforesaid kick backs, payment of euro 10,50,000.00 was made to Sanjeev Tyagi, Sandeep Tyagi and Rajeev Tyagi and their companies (Tyagi Brothers) by Mr Guido Haschke and Mr Carlo Gerosa through their companies Gordian Services Sarl, Tunisia and IDS Tunisia.
The payment of Euro 4,05,625.00 (equivalent to Rs. 2,49,17,912.00 approximately) to Tyagi brothers was allegedly made through the banking channel between 2004 and March, 2011 and remaining payment of Euro 6,44,975.00 (equivalent to Rs. 4,50,00,000.00 approximately) was made in cash during April, 2011 to December, 2011, following signing of contract for supply of 12 VVIP helicopters.
Following the investigation, five immovable properties of Tyagi Brothers worth Rs 6.20 crore, have been provisionally attached by ED. Further investigation is still on.
