PUDUCHERRY: The casket containing the relic of St John Bosco arrived in Puducherry on Wednesday. Hundreds of devout followers flocked at various places and churches and offered prayers. The casket arrived at Don Bosco Transit Home at Jeevanandapuram, Cuddalore, after a delay of more than an hour and was later kept at Don Bosco Boys Home at Thattanchavady till 2 pm. The vehicle carrying the relic was left-hand-driven,  making it difficult for those driving to negotiate the narrow lanes on its way.A rousing reception was accorded to the casket with children lining up on both sides of the ways and showering flower petals on it.The devouts stood in long queues to have a “darshan” of the relic. It was near chaos as people broke the queues and rushed to the stage where the casket was kept at the Boys Home. Police had a tough time regulating the queue. The casket then left for Holy Spirit Church at Tagore Nagar, where it was kept till 4.30 pm. Chief Minister N Rangasamy was among the hundreds present at the church to attend the mass held there. The casket was then taken to Immaculate Conception Cathedral, where archbishop Dr Antony Anandarayar graced the concelebrated High Mass. It was then taken to Sacred Heart Bascillica and would be kept there till 10.30 pm for public veneration before being taken back to Holy Spirit Church at Tagore Nagar for night vigil. The van containing the casket would continue its journey to Madurantakam early on Thursday morning.
